Jai Michelle Louissen

We Live With What Is Left

i sit up at three am and worry if love will pour over the mess i’m in

the dark splits its epithelial barrier and i cry into a phone hoping my

sister might catch it

we live with what is left

life transposing in that way

a skin of words barely touching

my mouth

little wads of time

singing the night to sleep

like another body

when morning comes, even the sun looks wrong
